Step 1: Base Color

Using your lightest shade, color in the golden retriever.
Let dry for 30-60 seconds.
Then use small flick-like strokes to add a fur texture to the golden retriever using a colorless blender.
Step 2: Layering Fur

Using the same flick-like strokes, add more fur texture with your next two lightest shades.
Let each coat dry before starting with the next color.
The strokes should create thin, medium-sized lines for the fur.
Step 3: Depth

Using your next two lightest shades, use the same flick-like motion to add more fur texture everywhere except the lightest spots of the golden retriever.
Pro Tip: Look for round spots (like the nose, top of paws, etc.). These are the areas that would be lighter on the golden retriever.
Step 4: Shading

Using your next two darkest shades, use the same flick-like motion to add more fur texture, only in the most shaded areas.
Step 5: Softening

Go over the entire golden retriever with the same strokes using your lightest shade (the one used as a base color).
This helps soften any harsh color transitions.
Step 6: Nose

Color the top of the nose using your lightest shade of pink.
Before it dries, color the rest of the nose using your darker shade of pink.
Before the colors dry, use your lightest shade of pink again and blend the colors together using small circular motions.
Step 7: Bow

Color the bow in the lighter color you are using for the bow.
Before it dries, add in shading and accents with the darker color you are using for the bow.
Before it dries, use your lighter shade to blend the colors together using small circular motions.
Step 8: Try it on an Actual Coloring Page!

You can use these steps on any page and add your own creative twist! Mix up the colors, include special touches, and color your golden retriever in a way that shows off your unique style.
