How to Blend Alcohol Markers!

Color along with the free printable and learn how to blend alcohol markers without streaks! These 3 simple tips make blending fun and easy for beginners!

Happy Coloring!

Basic Blending

There are a lot of different ways to blend with alcohol markers, so this is just a basic, beginner-friendly method to start with!

Step 1: Apply Colors

Pick your colors and apply them to your page, overlapping them slightly.

Step 2: Blend Colors

Use a colorless blender and go over the transition in circular motions to create a smooth gradient.

That's it!

Blending with alcohol markers can be easy once you get the hang of it. The tips below will help make it even easier!

Tips and Tricks

Tip 1: Keep Lines Wet

If you notice streaks in your colors, try blending while the ink is still wet. This helps reduce hard lines and makes blending much smoother.

Tip 2: Use Circular Motions

If you still have a few streaks on your artwork, try applying the colors using a circular motion instead of straight lines. This can help smooth the color transitions and reduce streaks.

Tip 3: Choose Colors Next to Each Other on the Color Wheel

Colors that are next to each other on the color wheel help create smooth transitions and are easier to blend.

Tip 4: Start with Your Lightest Color!

It is way easier to start with your lightest color and blend into darker colors! This is because you can overlap darker colors on top of the lighter ones (for example, it is much easier to put orange on top of yellow than yellow on top of orange!)

Tip 5: Colorless Blender First

Sometimes it is easier to blend if you put a colorless blender down first, then add colors on top of the colorless blender. The blending will have a slightly different look, with slightly lighter colors, which can be really pretty, especially for pastel skies and light-colored pages.

Bonus Tip: Try Blending with Your Lightest Color

If the colorless blender isn’t giving you the results you want, try using your lightest color instead! This often makes blending easier.
